I'm Maddysen (or Maddy), and I am a professional coloured pencil and watercolour artist from the High Country of Victoria, Aus.
I struggle to remember a time where I haven't drawn, as it consumed a lot of my childhood. However, it was 8 years ago that I began exploring being an artist professionally after falling into it accidentally.
It all started from a black & white sketch I did as a surprise for a friend who lost her horse unexpectedly, and from there I had others reaching out, asking me to draw their animals.
As someone who had drawn predominantly in graphite and charcoal, I taught myself other mediums like coloured pencils, oil paints and watercolours, and thus my business organically was born and grew.
I have now completed countless commissions over the years, won multiple awards, sold original work all over the country and am now completing illustrations for children's books.
As someone who grew up on a farm surrounded by all sorts of animals, and with a deep love for the land, creating artwork inspired by rural life, and bespoke portraits of people's beloved animals is really my dream come true.
When I'm not creating art, you can find me outside with my own horses, dog, cat and chickens, hiking the countryside, in my veggie garden or curled up with a cup of tea and a book.
